Benjamin Weigel successfully defended a Memphis, Indiana general contractor during a recent trial in Clark County, Indiana Circuit Court. The plaintiff’s home was heavily damaged during the March 2012 Henryville, Indiana tornado outbreak. The general contractor repaired plaintiff’s home. Plaintiff claimed that jewelry was stolen from her home during the course of the repairs. She likewise claimed that the contractor failed to properly supervise the job or, alternatively, that the contractor was strictly liable under a bailment theory. The court rejected both theories and rendered its judgment in favor of the defendant.
