Tracy Prewitt was successful in defending an anesthesiologist in this medical malpractice case in Floyd Circuit Court, Indiana.  Plaintiff alleged that substandard care during an epidural anesthesia injection caused injury.  Plaintiff also maintained that he did not receive informed consent regarding the risks of epidural anesthesia.  Prewitt defended by submitting that the injury was a known complication of the procedure and not the result of negligence.  Moreover, the defense showed that the Plaintiff was adequately informed that inadvertently placing anesthesia medication beyond the epidural space and into the spinal canal is a recognized risk and complication.  The jury unanimously agreed and rendered a verdict in favor of the defense.
