James Grohmann and Benjamin Weigel successfully defended a Richmond, Kentucky hospital during a recent trial in Madison County Circuit Court.  Plaintiff alleged that the hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation center failed to properly supervise a patient on exercise equipment.  The patient fell and unfortunately suffered a broken hip requiring surgery and a lengthy recovery.  Grohmann and Weigel countered that the cardiac rehabilitation center and its staff provided the appropriate supervision and that the patient was a candidate for the rehabilitation regimen prescribed for her.  The defense theory was supported by a cardiologist on the faculty of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.  The jury returned a unanimous verdict in the hospital’s favor.
