Tracy Prewitt successfully defended an internal medicine specialist in Jefferson Circuit Court in Louisville, Kentucky regarding the death of a patient who had undergone a hernia repair.  Plaintiff alleged that the surgery should have been performed earlier and that an injury occurred during the eventual surgical procedure.  The defense argued that the internist had obtained proper surgical consults and had monitored and treated all non-surgical, medical issues appropriately.  According to post-verdict interviews with jurors, the jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of the internist within the first few minutes of deliberations and spent the remainder of the deliberations discussing the claims against the co-defendant surgeon.  The jury ultimately returned a verdict in favor of all defendants.
