ELIZABETH M. HAHN began her career in the general area of injury litigation, but quickly found her love of workers’ compensation defense work. She has practiced exclusively in the area of workers’ compensation litigation and appeals since May of 2006. Elizabeth is a Louisville native. She graduated from Bellarmine University cum laude, and from Louisville Brandeis School of Law, cum laude. She enjoyed the Kentucky Bar Examination so much that she sat for and also passed the Illinois Bar in 2004. In her free time Elizabeth is an avid reader, loves to travel, try new restaurants and is a mother to three young children, Isabella (7), Cassie (5), and Alexander (3). The children and their father have added two cats, two Guinea pigs and a bunny to an already small household, but it is lots of fun.
Elizabeth’s experience includes litigating all facets of the workers’ compensation claim including all avenues of the appellate process. She has successfully represented large manufacturers in their workers’ compensation claims and successfully defended state and Federal Black Lung claims. Elizabeth’s experience has led her to actively lobby the Kentucky legislature to advocate for more employer-friendly workers’ compensation legislation in an effort to attract more employers to Kentucky. Her appellate work has also changed published case law, many times in favor of the employer’s rights. Elizabeth believes that consistent workers’ compensation laws will attract more high paying employers to a state in dire need of good jobs and jobs that will remain invested in Kentucky. Elizabeth is a frequent lecturer around the state in the area of workers’ compensation law. Most recently, she was invited to participate in a KET panel discussion on the Kentucky state workers’ compensation system and the changes proposed by House Bill 296 and the impact of the recent Supreme Court decision of Parker versus Webster Coal.
