MORGAN MOTTLEY was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Louisville. She went on to earn her law degree from the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude. While in law school, Morgan served as Notes Editor on the Journal of Law and Education. Morgan has been licensed to practice in Kentucky since 2016. Her practice is dedicated to insurance defense litigation. More specifically, Morgan’s practice areas include general liability defense, premises liability, and professional liability defense with a particular focus in medical malpractice defense. Morgan represents medical professionals of all levels and specialties as well as hospitals, long-term care facilities, and nursing homes in both Kentucky state and federal courts. Morgan has substantial experience defending medical malpractice claims through every stage of litigation in Kentucky courts. In addition, Morgan has considerable experience defending general liability and premises liability claims through trial in both state and federal courts. Morgan has worked on many complex litigation matters, including several appeals.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Louisville Cardinals.
Significant Representation
In October 2023, Morgan was a part of the trial team that obtained a unanimous defense verdict for a national retailer in a premises liability case involving a slip and fall, which resulted in a knee injury requiring a total knee revision.
Morgan also obtained summary judgment in the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky for a national retailer in a premises liability case. The Order granting summary judgment was appealed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Morgan won the appeal and summary judgment was affirmed by the Sixth Circuit.
