April 2026
Mark Hammond and Pete Pullen received a unanimous, 12-0 defense verdict in an alleged nursing home negligence action in Whitley County (KY) on April 17, 2026. A Corbin, KY nursing home was alleged to have abused and neglected an elderly dementia resident. Plaintiff alleged that negligent nursing home care and insufficient staff resulted in 15 falls and 10 pressure sores during a 15-month nursing home residency. Hammond and Pullen defended by submitting that the resident’s Lewy Body Dementia prevented fall interventions from being successful and nursing home staff healed 7 pressure sores that developed in a resident suffering from end-stage dementia. Plaintiff sought approximately $60 million in damages. The jury returned in approximately 90 minutes with a defense verdict.
