Clay Edwards successfully defended a Lexington surgeon in a medical malpractice action. Plaintiffs alleged an unreasonable delay in diagnosing and treating a leak after a laparoscopic roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure. Plaintiff sought more than $800,000 in past medical expenses and millions for more pain and suffering. Defense experts, including a past president of the ASMBS, defended the care provided by our client. After a six day trial the jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of our client in just over an hour.
